    Hi There,
I am looking to rehome out 3 year old Turtle, Turbo ... to a good home only.
    Details below

    1) Common Name: Murray River Turtle
    2) Scientific Name: Emydura macquarii macquarii
    3) Number available: 1
    4) Shell length in cm: 20 (approx) 3 years old
    5) Housed inside or outside? Inside
    6) Dimensions of current enclosure: 6 x 2 x 2 Ft
    7) Turtle's name: Turbo
    8) Location (suburb and post code): Woodville West SA 5011
    9) Is there a tank/pond or other equipment available to the new owner? Tank, Canister Filter, Heater, Dock and Basking Lamp, can negotiate a good price for these items if you don't have your own setup.

    G'day @Silvana0440 and :aftwelcome:

I have linked this thread to our AFT Facebook page. There may be someone in your state that can adopt your turtle. :)

Turbo appears to be female although I'm not positive as there are no photos of the tail from the underside (carapacial angle).

    Hi Silvana,

If this turtle is still available I'd be happy to adopt him. I have a 15,000ltr pond with 12 turtles (10 have been adopted!) I'm sure Turbo would love to join.

I come to Adelaide often for work so I can pick her up. The only issue is I won't be back in the state until the 23rd of September so I'm not sure if this would be too late for you.

    Cheers,
    Daniel.

    Thanks for sharing Craig :)
Daniel that sounds like a great option for turbo. She is quite large so I think she would be much better suited to a pond. She currently lives in 26 deg temperature, would she be ok going from that to a pond or would she need acclimatising ? End September is fine, just happy for her to go to a good place :)

With this warmer weather the main pond should be warm enough for turbo. If not, I do have a smaller pond that can be heated until the temperature is right. Thanks Silvana, Turbo should be a great addition!

Hi Daniel, I was just browsing the threads and even though I have no stake in this conversation I love the sound of your ponds and wondered if you had any photos of them anywhere as I'm curious about turtle pond set ups.

I know you didn't ask me but I thought I would show you some of my turtle ponds I have made in case they help give you some ideas for yours.

The larger the water volume the less the water chemistry and water temperature will fluctuate. They should also be allowed to swim and explore for exercise and for behavioural enrichment. A bored turtle is an unhappy turtle.
Also, freshwater turtles are more aquatic and if you're only keeping one, it is still best to provide as large a pond as you possibly can, with a small land area. You never know, later down the track you may change your mind about keeping more turtles or may even take in a turtle that has been damaged and is not releasable into the wild, or an unwanted pet.
The absolute minimum sized pond provided should be 1.5 metres X 1 metre X 60cm deep. Although a 2 metre X 1 metre X 1 metre deep pond is substantially better.
Of course, it is recommended to shade your pond from the harsh midday sun but allow the morning and afternoon sun onto your pond.
I have built many ponds over my life and bred thousands of baby turtles.
